I miss Tewligans. I saw many great, now legendary Punk, Hardcore and Indie bands there (both local and national). Some all ages, some I had to sneak in underage. But Cahoots is booking bands now, which makes me very happy! Thankfully when Cahoots bought Tewligans, they didn't change the layout much. And other than yanking out the stage to make a kitchen area, the changes they did make were an improvement. Still one of the best bars in Louisville. Good food, good drinks, good beers, good times.
I've got nothing but praise for this place. Good food, prices are what you'd expect (high, but not outrageous), service is good, and the great view of the Ohio River out on the outside padio during the nicer days of spring and summer months is something to be savored. Afterwards (or before), you can enjoy a nice stroll along the river.
I'm redoing my previous review because of the negativity in it. I have eaten there a couple more times recently and really dig the place. The service was good, the food was excellent, the prices were very reasonable. A very nice place to eat indeed.
This place used to be a great resturant, but has went seriously downhill. My family and I went there recently and were treated to bad service, the place was dirty, the food was nothing special, and we were seated next to a dirty fish tank with a dead fish in it. Very doubtful I will ever eat there again.
Up until this point I have only seen Dracula there (three years in a row now). But my wife and I have always enjoyed it so much that we have tickets to a few other upcoming shows. Grab a nice dinner beforehand and make a night out of it. Sure beats the hell out of going to the movies!
HA! It used to be a Mr. Gattis, and they kept most of the furnature and didn't redo anything as far as the layout either. Its very odd getting drunk in a bar that very obviously used to be a resturant, the bar ambiance just isn't there. Not that it would matter anyway, as this is Okolona, and the people you'll find here are your typical JT's crowd. Rednecks, mullets, bad country karaoke, and fights.
I can't believe no one has added this place yet. Simply the best place to rent videos, end of discussion! Any kind of obscure, out-of-print video/DVD you may be looking for, you'll most likely find here, (alongside numerous major and indy releases you'd expect to find at a video store). I have a Blockbuster right around the corner from my house, yet I drive all the way out to Wild and Woolly from Okolona to rent because of the incredible selection, and the fact it's locally owned.
Nice place, easily located off I-65. I have a Geocache hidden right next to the place: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=ba194d3a-3f04-49e9-84b3-f24b68a90966
Great place to see a show, I haven't had a bad seat there yet. Historic and probably the most interesting place visually you will ever see a show. Never do acid prior to going in, you'll never make it past the lobby!
Really the only station in Louisville worth listening to anymore. Sure they play alot of lame new crap during the weekdays, but the weekends are when this station shines: Relics, Sat. Night Blues Party, Sunday Bluegrass, etc. Still a great station depending on when you tune in.
Beautiful park, one of the great improvements the city of Louisville has made in the quest for downtown revitalization. Great place to walk, read, catch an event (something is always going), people-watch, or compete in the hippy games (watch out for errant frisbies). Now if they would just 86-64 and expand the park...
Auxiliary Records puts on all-ages shows there quite often, and they are almost always good, (go see the Young Widows sometime)! Pretty much a dive, but they have a bar attached with cheap domestics in a can.
C'mon, you're not a real Kentuckian until you've gotten drunk and fished at McNeely. This place used to be party central back when I was a teen/early 20's. I've had many long, drunken nights at this park.
That being said, it really is a nice park. I went back out there recently for the first time in years, and they have really cleaned up the place. Very nice landscaping and definitely more family-appeal now. The trashiness of the past seems to have been removed, thankfully.
Not really much of a park, but it is close to home. It's basicly just a half-mile walking path, but it is a nice place to do a couple laps with the dog. Moe seems to love this place.
