UPDATED: WAVE 3's Carrie Weil Is Leaving Louisville For a New Job

She's been a fixture on the local morning television scene since 2002 when she took the job as the anchor for Sunrise on WAVE 3. Now I've confirmed Carrie Weil will be leaving WAVE 3 and the city of Louisville for a new job in Flint, Michigan. "I'm super excited about the new challenge of the evening news. They have a great product and I hope I can be a great benefit to them."

That's right, she said "evening" news. Weil has taken the anchor job for WNEM CBS serving the Flint-Saginaw-Bay City market. She'll anchor the 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. for the CBS station and the 10 p.m. show for the FOX portion of the affiliate. Weil told me: "I'm thrilled as can be. It's going be a flip-flop in my schedule and I'll get to sleep through the night. I've been doing the morning show for so long and it's a new challenge and i'm just so excited."

As for why she's leaving, Weil says her husband got a call from a good friend and fellow Chiropractor to join his practice in Michigan. Sharp has been running his own practice and the couple sat down and decided it was worth considering.

It's important to mention the pair are moving to Sharp's hometown, so it's an easy move home for him. Weil says they couldn't make the move without her having a job so she started calling the stations there locally. Initally Weil interviewed for the morning position for WNEM but ultimately didn't take that position. A few weeks later their main anchor resigned and Weil got the call that the management wanted Weil to take the job...All of that's happened in just the last three weeks. Sharp will stay behind to wrap things up here in Louisville then join Carrie. "It's up in the air on where we'll be living but we have such faith going forward that it's going to work out just fine."

As for Weil leaving Louisville: "I don't think the magnitude has set in yet. I've been here since I was nine and consider Louisville my howmetown. I look at this as spreading my wings and a new adventure but i'm sure I'll be crying in the car as I leave. I haven't let myself think about that aspect of it."

What this means for WAVE is a near complete upheaval of their morning show team. As Rick Redding reported here on Mojo, Ray D'Alessio is Leaving March 25 to head back to Atlanta where his wife and kids still reside. Unable to sell their home or to find work for his wife here, D'Alessio has opted to head back to Atlanta. Tom Wills retired last year and, at present, the newsroom is without a news director.

You may remember something similar happened at WLKY in 2008. Kim Stevens was demoted to weekend mornings, then I left in September '08 after a unexplained demotion from the morning show. Paul Moses, my co-anchor, was told his contract was not being renewed just three months later. Shortly after that, Jim Bulleit resigned.

Rebuilding a trusted team is no easy task and WAVE 3 will need to hit the ground running to fill the vacancies because the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby are right around the corner. WAVE 3 broadcasts both and managers rely on every member of the news staff to pull off extensive coverage leading up to the Oaks and Derby.

Weil says her contract was coming to an end and so she exercised the two week notice option. Her last day on WAVE 3 will be March 31st. Her first day at WNEM is April 7th.

Steve Langford, General Manager for WAVE 3, tells me he's sad to see her go. "I think she was made to be an evening anchor. We had an abundance of that here and we'd been working with Carrie to get her what she wanted," Langford said. Langford also talked about Carrie's history with the station...how she started as an intern and worked her way up: "We've had her since she's an intern so we feel like we've raised her."

As for her move to evenings, Langford said that's where she plays best adding, "She's going to kill it up there and i'm sorry she's going."

Meanwhile Langford says they'll be looking at all their options when it comes to filling the growing number of vacancies on the morning show staff.

I've known Carrie for a lot of years and I wish her the best in the next chapter of her life in television.

OH MY GOSH ABBY! You should totally apply for that job! You already know how to do mornings, and I hated when you left the morning news at WLKY. This would be AWESOME! Wave3 would definitely get some new viewers from my family!

you are VERY sweet to say that...I loved the mornings...weird right? Of course I have enjoyed sleeping more than 4 hours a night since I left too. Have a great day!!

Good luck to Carrie and her husband,Doug, too. She will be missed and so will Dr, Sharp!

Abby, thanks for the detailed update. You're a great reporter.

Well thanks Media Man..that's very nice of you to say!! Have a good one!

A shame to lose someone as talented as Carrie Wiel was, but on the other hand, it would be a great opportunity for you, Abby, to be back on TV where you belong. You are a well known face and local personality, used to watch you "backside at the Downs" every day pre-Derby, and with their derby coverage coming, you'd be a natural. Plus we would all like to see you BACK. Hey, WAVE, anybody down there listening???
     Abby Miller H.   fri mar 19 2010 at 1:32 pm         ·
lol Martha...the backside is about the coolest thing. I used to take my camera and snap pics...there's nothing like watching Churchill Downs wake up in the morning. Not to mention there are quite a few characters on the backside. I appreciate that you were watching!!
     LarryS   fri mar 19 2010 at 2:37 pm         ·
Abby, this'll sound like a chauvenistic remark--so I apologise in advance--I like Carrie, but you'd certainly be a major league cosmetic upgrade. Not to mention your on screen value!

I wish Carrie the very best! it's so pretty in parts of Michigan, Put N Bay Island is really cool.
Abby, I agree with the above comments...it would be cool to see you back on TV. no training needed:)

I'm sorry to hear that Carrie is leaving and I'm even more sorry to hear that she is going to Flint, MI - arguably the biggest sh*t-hole in America outside of Detroit. Hopefully it will just be a quick stepping stone for bigger and better things in Carrie's future.

Touch Wave3.

You know who is still in Louisville and loves the city?

David McArthur. One of the few casualties of the news director.

Good job WAVE!

She was some good eye-candy... but I found her slightly annoying. I prefer WLKY's news in the morning.

I thought her husband was one of the other anchors at the station.

They divorced several years ago. Rumor has it that she was cheating on him with her current husband.

Dumbest thing 32 ever did was let Kim Stevens go. Channel 3 should snatch her up since they are going to have to revamp their morning show. As for anchor, I like the one they have on weekends now. Don't know her name, but she is very good.
     AshNky22   sat mar 20 2010 at 1:35 pm         ·
Didn't Carrie's last name used to be Harned? Are her and Kevin Harned brother and sister? I remember they used to host a show together on Wave3 in the afternoon, now Cindy Sullivan does that show. I've always wondered if they were either married at one point or brother and sister.
     cardfan1   sat mar 20 2010 at 3:33 pm         ·
yes they were married

Bullock Blindsided? What's up with Stupid Men?
Thu @ 12:23 pm
News Channel: movies & tv
views: 1109  kudos: 0     bit.ly    post to facebook    post to twitter

When CBS News and other national networks start reporting this, it gets legs. Sandra Bullock, America's sweetheart may have just been truly blindsided. "in Touch Weekly" is reporting Bullock's husband, Jesse James, cheated on her big time.

Michelle "Bombshell" McGee claims she carried on a torried affair with James for 11 weeks, five of which were sexual. This supposedly all happened while Bullock was filming "The Blindside," for which she just won the "Best Actress" Oscar.

The totally tattooed tramp told "iN Touch Weekly" that she thought James and Bullock had separated and claims she has steamy texts to back up her torrid affair claims.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Bullock pulled out of her Overseas premiere of "The Blindside" and has reportedly moved out of the home she shares with James. She issued this statement about pulling out of the London premiere: "Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support 'The Blind Side' has been deemed impossible at this time."

McGee told this to the magazine: "I asked him, 'What's going on with you and Sandra?' He said, 'She doesn't live here. She has a house in Austin. She is filming, and I can't talk about it."

As to why this dingbat woman would wait this long to come out of the proverbial woodwork to spin her tale of cheating? Your guess is as good as mine.

The bigger question, to me, is this...what in the HELL is wrong with these men? TIger Woods...Jesse James. Here they are married to gorgeous women, living what appears to be a great life, and they go out and tramp it up with other "women." it makes no sense to me.

Look at the Oscars. Bullock was TOTALLY in love with her husband. I mean, there was no getting around it. You can tell. If this is true? She was blindsided and I feel badly for her. I'm not a friend of hers no, but I'm friends with her cousin and have known/seen her around since I was a kid. She's good people. She deserves better. And James is a slime ball who can go back to his burger joint and his monster garage and sleep with all the tattooed bimbos he wants.

yep her name is "Bombshell"

Hmmm, what do tattoos have to do with it?
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:04 pm         ·
why are you so interested in the sex lives of celebrities?
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:05 pm         ·
nothing necessairly...just a pretty accurate description of good girl Sandy versus a tat covered woman who wants to be called "bombshell." it should be noted James' ex wife is covered in tattoos.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:05 pm         ·
metri...it's not that i'm interested, but the nation certainly is...hence the cover of every magazine on the stands. SO....when the nation's interests change, i'll blog about their interests of new...until then, we blog about what people are talking about...and they are talking about this. :0)
     Joel   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:15 pm         ·
Whats wrong with these men? If women cannot see men like Jesse and Tiger for who they really are, women need to wise up.
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:21 pm         ·
well, NOT the cover of "every magazine on the stands", only the gossip rags at supermarket checkout counters that are aimed at a certain type of person, and that type of person does NOT represent the interests of the nation.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:53 pm         ·
metri...it was on CBS NEWS....gossip rag? i think not.
     davilledude   thu mar 18 2010 at 2:57 pm         ·
Another case where good girls shouldn't marry bad boys.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:05 pm         ·
davil...totally agree. why are women so attracted to bad boys? i don't get it but it's like, in our DNA. when they met everyone thought she was NUTS to go out with him but they really seemed to make it work. she seemed just...SO into that guy.

and then he bangs a chick while she's off making them millions. sigh. why can't men behave?? lol.
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:11 pm         ·
a lesson in logic and communication:

1. you said "every magazine on the stands" is covering it.

2. i disagreed.

3. you responded by pointing out that a tv station is covering it, which has nothing to do with magazines.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:27 pm         ·
lesson received...here's yours...

1. read the first line of the blog.
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:33 pm         ·
uh... I see it. So what? That still has nothing to do with my original point. Slow down. Focus. Listen.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:38 pm         ·
ditto. but when you're going to say a mult-billion dollar magazine industry doesn't represent this country, i disagree. period. who's on the cover of People magazine this week? Elizabeth Edwards. b/c her husband cheated on her. I mean, this ain't rocket science. this is mainstream media. it may not represent YOU but then again, maybe it does...after all, you read this blog didn't you? Enough. we agree to disagree. but my opinion's not wrong. When Tiger Woods affairs become part of the nightly news on all networks b/c of his infidelity it's because it generates RATINGS. trust me dear, i've been in the business way too long.
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:46 pm         ·
so, you're defending the practice of muckracking, dirt-spreading and gossipping about the sex lives of celebrities in the name of ratings?

Or does it just feel good to sit comfy at home and hurl childish insults like "totally tattooed tramp", "stupid men", "James is a slime ball who can go back to his burger joint", etc.?
     davilledude   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:46 pm         ·
We always want what we can't have and that's why the grass is always greener near the compost heap.
Make sense? Nope but it sure sounds goods.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 3:59 pm         ·
what i'm saying is that we the people have made it news. If no one watched, there would be no ratings, thus a change in programming. but that's not happening. There are focus groups at all levels and those people are made of normal average people and those people say what they want covered...and that's what's covered.

and there's nothing childish at all about calling a woman who's tattooed...tattooed...or a woman who has sex with a married man a tramp. and yes, i think any man who has someone who seems to truly love them and squanders that for sex is STUPID.
     metricsister   thu mar 18 2010 at 4:03 pm         ·
let she who is without sin cast the first stone.
Steve Coomes   thu mar 18 2010 at 4:03 pm         ·
c'mon, Abby, how blindsided was Sandra? She married a guy who had been married to a porn star for several years. What did she think she was getting in Jesse James? A choir boy? Doubtful. She probably was attracted to the bad boy image in the first place, and that's what she ultimately got: a bad boy.

I'm NOT defending him, but I'm not about to think she's that naive.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 4:06 pm         ·
i have never cheated on my husband, i do not have tattoos...duck so you don't get hit by a rock.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 4:07 pm         ·
Steve...good point. plus, we never know what goes on behind closed doors. sometimes i think the biggest problem with women is that we think we can change the man. he is who he is. he may be better, but he is who he is...good point.

I don't get it. I mean I don't have anyting against tatoo's but compared to Sandra I think Bombshell doesn't have anything. I have to ask myself what was he thinking? Why is Bombshell running her mouth about it now? James isn't even that hot.
     GtownGuy   thu mar 18 2010 at 6:08 pm         ·
Some "celebrities" hit the news with such unexpected impact that it grabs the attention of ANY news hounds. Didn't care for Anna Nichole, but whose heartstrings weren't plucked a little bit by her son dying as she gave birth, and then her own quick death taking her from her newborn? Or by the death of an icon like Michael Jackson who influenced so many years of music and mixed public sentiment? Or the very public tears of an adulterous Kentucky governor? Or what began as a car accident involving a golf icon who brought new levels of attention & excitement to a professional sport? Or the thrill of a champion Little League team that could capture our hearts when we were still mourning the 9/11 "forever" change of our nation? Certain things are "news" because they TOUCH us on some human level - unless we have already lost our own humanity.
     A The Sadist   thu mar 18 2010 at 6:43 pm         ·
I'm still not understanding what tattoos have to do with any of this... Are you insinuating that people (females especially) with body art have a propensity to lead others to cheat? More so than a "good girl" like "Sandy"? God, I can't stand when people call other individuals they don't know by nicknames, especially celebrities.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 7:37 pm         ·
Sadist...she has tattoos,....that is her self proclaimed schtick...hence it was worthy of mention. that's her stock in trade. if you look her up, that's her deal. that's why the mention. my father had a tattoo. what's your point? And my exact words were, "description of good girl Sandy" .... it's a writing style. in other words...if you go back to "Grease," she was "Sandra D." and she was "Sandy." Lighten up bud, life's too short.

Metricsister, if you don't like the post then you can indeed skip over it like you do with the rags at the super market. If you're not interested in their sex life then why did you even read this post? I know it's hard, but if you're not interested in the subject matter, then you don't have to read it.
KTT Laura   thu mar 18 2010 at 8:32 pm         ·
A, the girl doesn't have tats, she is a walking, talking tat. I have 11 and with or without tats I would take that girl home to mama. She looks pretty stanky to me.

Life's short, have an affair. :D
     Im a Survivor   thu mar 18 2010 at 8:38 pm         ·
I guess I just don't get cheating in general. Why the heck do you get married or get into a seriouse relationship and cheat and have affairs?
     AshNky22   thu mar 18 2010 at 8:58 pm         ·
Girls can look so hot with tattoos but that woman's face is nasty. She looks like a man, gross. I just wanted to point out, it's not just men who are dumb cheaters, women cheat too, it's just far more news worthy (for whatever reason)when a man cheats.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 9:04 pm         ·
survivor i totally agree. i mean, is it more "dangerous and sexy" to have an affair while married? how selfish. Ash you are SO right. i'm sure women cheat...especially celebs...we just never hear about them. pretty sexist if you ask me...i can't think of one famous celeb woman who's been called out for cheating...oh wait, that blond chick singer? country? i dunno, that's as close as i can get and you KNOW there are more. good point.

Let's be honest, you are what you advertise. A covered in tatoos, leather underwear wearing cheat, is what she advertises. Sex lives of celebrities? Because it hey think they can sneak around for a thrill. It ain't a thrill when you wind up looking like a fool, alone, with a fresh case of an std. Guess what? You can get an Std in your mouth too. Be careful where you put your mouths guys. That "hot" whore in the fish nets might have something hot between her legs too. A dumb dumb man I know that thought it was cute to see what all he could get and messed around on his WIFE is being treated for syphalis in his mouth! he thought because they didn't have intercourse he was cool. Well, he put his mouth on the wrong thing one time too many! Oral syphallis! Cheating on his wife. I just HOPE she doesn't have it too.
Jesse James you idiot!!
     AshNky22   thu mar 18 2010 at 9:52 pm         ·
Tattoos do NOT=Home wrecking slut. Home wrecking slut=home wrecking slut.
People cheat for lots of reasons, most of the time it's because they are unhappy and look to other people for happiness and fulfillment. People who are secure and 100% happy with themselves usually don't cheat.
Frogg Corpse   thu mar 18 2010 at 10:24 pm         ·
actually the reason people cheat is usually sex addiction or a past life event to make trust and the actual annotation of a relationship people dont really understand the full aspect of that word and that obligation of verbal contractuality they abort that idea for chemical imbalances ge tin the way as such for seething lunatics as well.
     Abby Miller H.   thu mar 18 2010 at 10:51 pm         ·
oh my J.S. that was SOME picture...yikes. now see, in that pic I think she looks scary. i think Sandra Bullock's much prettier, but then again, I think we all agree cheating isn't because of looks...but my Lord, in that pic she looks pretty trashy IMHO.
     AshNky22   thu mar 18 2010 at 11:13 pm         ·
I really don't buy the entire "sex addiction" scape goat a lot of the time. There are two different types of cheating. Emotional affairs and physical affairs. Obviously in an emotional affair there is not a sex addiction. Sure there are people who have a sex addiction who cheat and there are people with severe trust issues who cheat. People have affairs for millions of reasons.
Frogg Corpse   thu mar 18 2010 at 11:48 pm         ·
Sex Addiction is a craving for sex...hence then it would be a emotional state as well as physical and being that its all in the mind with cognitive actions. this is a emotional and Chemical lability of the brain to subdue urges and replace them with others. of course theres millions of reasons people have affairs and cheat. but it always revolts to the same chemical urge and thought......For the thrill.
     AshNky22   fri mar 19 2010 at 8:54 am         ·
Sex addiction is not necessarily a craving for sex. It's a "craving" (your word not mine) to regulate ones emotions. People who suffer from addictive behaviors latch on to whatever makes them feel "ok" at the moment (and addiction often changes). Often times when someone is truly an addict, they have more than one vice. Drugs and alcohol, along with sex. Gambling addiction and a drug addiction, etc. It's VERY rare to see an individual who suffers ONLY from a sex addiction, which is why sex addicts, when they enter into treatment they are treated for "addictive" behavior as a whole and not specifically treated for a problem that is sexual in nature. Why? Because when a person is biologically an addict, they will find anyway to regulate their emotions. If you take sex out of their equation, the want for sex will then manifest into another type of addiction. An addiction, is an addiction. True addicts don't abuse for a "thrill". They abuse to feel normal. So, the vast majorities of people who cheat do not suffer from addiction. Addiction is a generic label our society slaps on people when something isn't understood. Hell, even mental health professionals are coming out and saying "addiction" is used far too often to label people.
     AshNky22   fri mar 19 2010 at 9:01 am         ·
Saying that all affairs go back to some kind of addiction is a lot like saying every person who is 15 pounds over weight is addicted to food.
One thing I think we can all agree on and going back to my original statement, happy people don't cheat. If you're happy with yourself and you're happy with your overall situation you don't look outside of your relationship for any type of intimate fulfillment.

I'm plenty relaxed... Random people blogging about what they (think they) know about celebrities doesn't typically get a rise out of me. And you basically just retracted what you originally said, "bud"...
Initially you referred to Michelle as a "tattooed tramp" but now her body art is just a footnote?
Black Gladiator   fri mar 19 2010 at 12:19 pm         ·
I disagree, I think Sandra Bullock is a very annoying actress typecast in very annoying roles the few exceptions.

What I don't understand is why guys like Tiger even bother to get married. Marriage is tough, I can't even fathom being married to a woman as annoying as Bullock. but if you're not willing to commit yourself to the relationship, why bother no matter how much you're in love? Look at confirmed bachelors like George Clooney or Derek Jeter; you never see them in matrimonial scandals because their attitude is "I'm young, rich, single and successful, so what do you expect?" No one even bats an eye when women start popping out of the woodwork.
Black Gladiator   fri mar 19 2010 at 12:23 pm         ·
There's really no practical reason to get married today anyway, outside of health insurance. Realistically speaking, the only good reason to get married is for shared health insurance. It mostly just a romantic thing to do.

Al Pacino has never been married...people could care less if he sleeps with a million Waffle House skanks.

How do we know Sandra Bullock is annoying? She does pretty well to keep herself out of the rag mags...With the exception of her husband possibly cheating on her and that was not brought on by her. The stripper making the claims that she boned her husband brought that on.
     Abby Miller H.   fri mar 19 2010 at 12:36 pm         ·
i kind of see what you mean by annoying but again, it's the roles she plays...i mean, did you see that one "All about Steve" or whatever? she was supposed to be annoying. and in most movies she's been type cast as the flake and played it well. i think blindside was a break out role for her b/c she got to get out of that "mold."

as for why people get married? who's to say? I'm more concerned with why they cheat. and i DON'T buy this constant addiction crap. that's what rich people say when they get caught. i do believe there's such a thing as sexual addiction, but i think it's used as a scapegoat more often than an accurate diagnosis. just my opinion though.

You know what? Bullock was in the rag mags ourt isn't fun, I am thinking a custody battle over a child that's not even yours would suck. but she stood right there by him recently because of the big custody battle between James and his ex. He needed to be "married" to look like a good stable daddy with a good stable home. Often employers look at married men in a better light than singles. SOme guys and girls for that matter like to have their cake and "eat" it too. Meaning,,,on Christmas Eve man sits with wife and kids and east Christmas dinner and puts out cookies for santa. The kids go to bed and wifey is tired. man says "hey some of the guys are meeting at "guy bar" for a beer, care if I go? Wife is releaved she doesn't have to have sex with the big snoring garlic smelling fool. Guy, brushes his teeth and washes up and heads to,,,,,well the next thing you know there are pictures of guy on Facebook in some skanks pictures Salsa dancing at "Salsa Christmas". Had his cake and ate it too. Now he may not have as much cake or money either :( He is free to go salsa dancing whenever it strikes him though~

That's the most ridiculous scenario ever, lol. Why doesn't wife want to have sex with her husband. As a married woman, I always want to have sex with my husband, it's part of being in a committed adult relationship.
     KATEB   fri mar 19 2010 at 6:52 pm         ·
Ash, cool that you always wanted to have sex whene you WERE married. You may not believe that this is a true scenerio but honey, after 10-15 years, that pot bellied snoring ass scratching fool you married aint that apealing. On the other hand some poor skank whore, fish net wearing, miniskirt flipping, tatoo bearing,,,, sees his Rolex and thinks "jackpot". She overlooks a little fat and gets some earplugs. The fat fu$k is happy, the skank is happy,,, The rest is history...

Hmm, my husband is in pretty excellent shape. You sound really bitter KateB. My husband likes my tattoos and when I wear fishnets for him and when I act all trampy for him. *wink* We're doing something right.
KTT Laura   fri mar 19 2010 at 11:03 pm         ·
I can say I'd still jump my husband if he got pot bellied and snored. He's even losing his hair.

I'd jump him if 1/2 his face was melted off in a crazy acid accident.

Music Soothes the Savage Babies...HILARIOUS VIDEO INCLUDED

When I was pregnant I played music for my babies all the time...I love music and so it was a no brainer. My husband really digs reggae so the boys heard a lot of that while in the womb. Once born, I've found music really does do "something" for them.

Interestingly enough, in the research i've found, music can make babies smarter. It's called "The Mozart Effect." In his book, Don Campbell basically states Classical music, like Mozart, can reach out to autistic children. He also contends it can help infants react and think better. Campbell also thinks Mozart "contributes to the improved functioning of the higher cerebellar functions, including the ability to deal with logical and mathematical concepts."

I notice when I watch "American Idol" the boys pay close attention. And that Subway song? They love it too.

Now, there are those who disagree with the music concept and I can't say I'm totally sold on the notion that listening to Mozart will make my boys brilliant, but I am becoming convinced that if my husband has any say in what the boys listen to...they're gonna be gravediggers.

If Mozart makes a baby smarter, please tell me what Lady GaGa will do for them? Yep, I said it, Lady Gaga. Check out the video below...It's Luke exhibiting his obsession with the pop artist. She instantly calms him and, when taken away from him, he cries like...well, like a baby. Funny, she has the same effect on my husband.

Do you think music matters?

I'm a music lover and have always found it helpful in calming nerves...children and adults alike. When my (now 15 year old) daughter was an infant, she was rather colicky. For whatever reason, Pink Floyd "Division Bell" would soothe her. Needless to say, I wore it out. Later, when she was around 18 months, she was obsessed -- much like little Luke here -- with TLC's "Waterfalls". If that video came on, she would stop whatever she was doing and fully devote herself to the song. I can still see her tiny little body swaying back and forth to the tune. She just LOVED IT! So, no...it wasn't Mozart or Chopin or Beethoven...but today my daughter is a brilliant artist and Freshman at Manual with a world of potential. Thanks be to Roger Waters and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez? Nah....I'll take that credit :)

I think Mozart or even light Classics would be better -- there are some studies that say the loud, wild music of today is affecting even the teenagers -- wouldn't try it on babies! Just good music, which sorta eliminates current trendy junk. Maybe he likes the lights and look of the I-whatever??? Great video!!!!

too cute! I'm lucky my little one isn't to the lady part of her gaga's and goo-goo's yet. lol. she likes music, but she doesn't get to hold the music.
     Abby Miller H.   wed mar 17 2010 at 12:09 pm         ·
well, when you have TWO babies...you use whatever works lol and for whatever reason, lady gaga is Luke's muse. too funny. I think music is soothing...i mean, look at all of us with mobiles over cribs...it doesn't just spin toys, it spins tunes as well. As for Luke....God love him, he takes after his dad.

i do think the iTouch aided in his obsession...the sound, the lights, the whole deal was very cool to him. That said, Baby Einstein does nothing for them yet and it makes me want to beat my head against a wall!!
     WilderMom   wed mar 17 2010 at 1:25 pm         ·
I think music absolutely matters! I am a singer and music lover who studied music in college. I exposed my two daughters to all kinds of music-my iPod has everything from Pink Floyd to Dwight Yoakum to Lady Gaga and to say it's a variety is an understatement. It's amazing how the music can and did affect their moods. My oldest will still ask for the Vangelis CD when she's having trouble getting to sleep.

Now they are 14 & 9 and excellent students and awesome individuals who haven't limited themselves to listening to just one type of music. I feel that it has also helped them determine what currently is good music (and there is some out there) and what is just noise.

Don't limit them, and enjoy the funny times when they listen to something silly, like Lady GaGa! We still laugh about songs the girls would sing and dance too when they were little!

That is too cute how Luke gets mad when you take away his Gaga! Just too funny! I say let them listen to what they like... It is more the beat than the words that he is digesting at that age and he likes the up tempo so good for him... I think you should send that video to Lady Gaga, lol...

My little girl just turned 4 and she asks for specific songs by The Goo Goo Dolls, The Eagles, Sugarland and Maroon 5... I just love the fact that she listens to the words and asks me questions about the people who are singing!! I think any genre of music is better for kids than sticking them in front of the TV all day...

LOL...Busy mommy...just wait until she gets older. My eleven year old asked what Lady Gaga meant by "bluffin' with my muffin." just how do you answer that to an 11 year old? lol.

I thought that was too cute...Whatever makes them happy..:)

My Audrey loves her baby einsteins. she was a Christmas baby, and wakes up to listen to music. I just don't have an Iphone. The best I can do is put it on my laptop with the vizualations.

Tiger's Coming Back, But What's It Mean for The Masters?
Tue @ 3:34 pm

As Rick Redding reported here...Tiger's coming back. Is anyone shocked? Anyone? I didn't think so. It was "when" not "if." If there's one thing Tiger cares about as much as his sexual exploits, it's the game of golf.

I have a few thoughts about the return. But first, here's a few thoughts from Tiger as seen on his website:

"The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta."

"The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been awhile since I last played."

"I have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy, and I am continuing my treatment. Although I'm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life."

Okey dokey...no surprises there either. But here's what it means for the Masters...BIG ratings. HUGE. It means more spectators, more media interest, more...everything. And that includes distractions. I feel bad for the other golfers, who, while happy their money man is returning to the sport, will no doubt have to deal with the nightmare that will be the security detail for Tiger.

Extra security will be a no brainer...some at taxpayer expense. There will be hecklers, there will be people thrown out for yelling etc., and Tiger will be the center of the attention he's dodged since he failed to dodge a fire hydrant and a tree in November.

Don't get me wrong, i'm glad the guy's coming back. But it will be a circus. Every bad shot will be dissected for it's true meaning, whatever that may be. If he does poorly he gets a pass because of all he's been through. If he does well then he's a phenom the likes of which no one's ever seen.

Will Elin be at his side? Will his children? Who knows. What I do know is that if the guy REALLY wanted to work on his marriage he would have done something truly selfless...he would have put his family first instead of his game. No shock to me that he chose not to.

IMHO, Tiger Woods' marriage is his personal problem. His game is what he does for a living. When he is NOT on the golf course, what he does is no more my business than the behavior of professional football players, race car drivers, or any other athlete. I hope his married life works out for him, but I don't want to hear the details.
     Martha Boltz #322355   tue mar 16 2010 at 9:50 pm         ·
His "job" may be golf, but he has been held up as a hard working, talented, high achieving athlete and many young boys have taken up golf as a result --want to "be like Tiger." So like it or not, he has become for a time one of the more acceptable role models for our kids, therefore what he does OFF the course, insofar as it makes national headlines for weeks on ends, DOES involve us and affect us. It becomes our business when it affects our young people. IMHO. And he should have thought about that when he forgot what a zipper was for, not to mention his marriage vows. Call me old-fashioned.
Mixed Mojo   wed mar 17 2010 at 12:39 am         ·
He generates lots of money for lots of people. That is all that matters whether you like it or not. He'd have to kill someone before it would even begin to matter to anyone, other than some morally outraged housewives, what he did of the course.

If you don't like it, you better get everyone you know to convince everyone THEY know not to watch golf ever again, or buy any products that sponsor golf, or buy anything endorsed by a golfer. Send those bastards a message.

Tiger shouldn't have been a role model. Neither should Jordan, Michael Irvin, OJ Simpson, Michael Jackson, Magic Johnson, or Dr. J...but not because they all liked white women but because their skills could not be achieved by any normal person no matter how much they worked at it. The people who make the most out of the least should be role models. People who work their way through school. People who achieve greatness not because of their talents but in spite of their lack of it. It doesn't matter if Tiger didn't bang a bunch of dirty butts, he still shouldn't have been a role model because his skill and focus can only be achieved by 1 in a billion or so people. Pro athletes like him are just freaks that are enjoyable to watch because of their freakishness. Stop thinking you or your kids could ever hope to enjoy that level of greatness and let them enjoy their spoils.

Rick Redding did not report it here. I reported it over in the Sports Section of the Forum.....:P
Rick Redding   wed mar 17 2010 at 8:39 am         ·
dude, chill on the "who reported it first" bit. It's a huge national story. Heard on the radio this morning it will be the biggest TV event since the inauguration.
     Martha Boltz #322355   wed mar 17 2010 at 10:09 am         ·
And if that's true, Mr. Redding, that's extremely sad on a number of points.
Rick Redding   wed mar 17 2010 at 10:28 am         ·
"I think the first tournament Tiger Woods plays again, wherever it is, will be the biggest media event other than the Obama inauguration in the past 10 or 15 years."
That's the exact quote from CBS News & Sports president Sean McManus.

So, like it or not, it's a big event and will overshadown anything else going on in the world during Masters week. And if he makes the cut and is in contention (very likely) look out.
