I've been up the whole morning... My German Shep just had babies
yesterday. they are part Black Lab...
She was compromised a few months back when a dog jumped our fence ... this is the 4th girl he has done this to in the neighborhood... :{
She's only 9 months old...neither one of us were ready for this... but
we're happy and excited all the same... :}
Lol... The babies never seem to quit feeding... :}
As soon as she finish feeding them they're ready to start feeding again!!!...
It was the cutest thing when Mel got home from school... :}
As she was coming up the stairs she playfully told me "Daisy had her
puppies!"...
"OK...I said again... "Whatever"... :}
Melanie cried soooo much when she discovered that Daisy had had her
puppies"...:}
I laughed and said... "Sure she has Mel"
Then she told me I see something black in the doghouse"... and I
said.."un-hun" and i smiled... :}
And then all of a sudden she said in tears..."SHE HAD HER
BABIES MOM!!!... I'M NOT LYING!!!... I SWEAR TO GOD!!!!!"...and she
wouldn't stop crying...That's when I knew I had to check out her
story..
Mel knew NOT to swear to God... EVER!!!...
So... I got up... and went to the back deck... and lo and behold...
there they were... i counted them... 1..2...3...4...5...6..7..8...
EIGHT!!!!!... :)
But ... then Mel noticed that something was wrong with one of them...
it wasn't moving..
I figured it must had been sometime during the morning... while I was
dropping off Mel to school... then picking up the girls to bring them
back to the bus stop at my house... the puppies were born... and this
one had died... :{
Mel and I got Daisy to go downstairs so I could remove the deceased
puppy...
afterwards... Daisy went back to the bunch and startedfeeding them
again...
As I removed it... I heard several swalks above me in one of the pine
trees...
There was a hawk camping out in my pine tree outback... and it was
getting cooler, so I figured that it was better if i moved them in the
house...
I layed a blanket down and Daisy layed on it... and her babies went to
her for a feeding...
A few times she has gotten up... but Mel has layed Daisy's head on her
leg and gently stroked her face while she has been feeding and it has
worked a lot better for everyone...
And.. If that wasn't enough... she even put on playtex gloves and
helped her with the feeding...
They're both great mothers!!!..:}
I have even adapted the same routine... and it's working for us all
beautifully... :}
the feedings every 45 minutes to an hour is wearing me down... :}
Daisy makes me help her with them... well.... my daughter and myself...
meaning she have us to place each one on her brest and stroke her head
while she's lying on our lap!...
and it's exausting!... :}
Afterwards... she gives them a bath... then go outside to spend time
with Kato... our little Jack-O Bee...till she's ready to feed them
again...
Boy!!!...LOL... What I wouldn't do to get pampered like that!!!...:}
(Will post more later... :}...)
