Im not certain but i seem to be getting a lot of static shocks when i touch my car these days and i was thinking i might need to look into getting a ground wire... my wagoneer used to have one coming off the negative wire at the terminal bolt that screwed right into the body like a ground and i was wondering if maybe this one needs something like that???

Nope,

The common battery terminal is already connected to chassis ground. If not, your car wouldn't work.

I assume you get shocked when you get out of the car. You can install a ground strap that hangs down from the car and, well, touches the ground. This will dissapaite the static charge. Usually, the humidity in the air is enough to discharge static, but as the air dries out in colder weather, sometimes you'll get a shock. Most car handles are made of plastic for this reason.

Some info on ground straps

And if you just want to stop in a parts store and pick one up, NAPA sells them for about 4 dollars, ask for a S206 or S207 static strap, they should have one in stock.

17059160 was the carburetor number for my 79 Firebird. I got a rebuild kit at Napa. I will never forget that number for some reason. What you can't get elsewhere, you can get at Napa. That's the slogan I wrote for H&S when I worked there but it fits Napa also.
